Corporate: Established under article 22 of the Spanish Constitution ( the Associations Act)
  • Strengthen and promote botanic gardens as centers of biodiversity conservation, environmental education, research, culture and heritage; and their dissemination in society.
  • To encourage cooperation among members of the Botanical Gardens itself, promoting and coordinating common projects of action and further the exchange of knowledge, experiences, information and plant material.
  • To promote relations between the Botanical Gardens members of the Association with other botanical gardens, international associations and institutions of similar purpose or the like.
  • Strengthen existing Botanical Gardens and encourage the creation of new ones, plotting strategies and promoting actions to this end.
  • To organize meetings, conferences, seminars and conferences related to the objectives of a botanical garden.
  • To safeguard the prestige and image of the Botanical Gardens.
Activities: Annual Symposium.
Criteria for membership: Full members: Public or private gardens that manage their plant collections with an underlying scientific purpose of conservation, cultural or educational roles.
Partner members: Gardens that do not conform fully to Article 3 of the consitution above but are working to do so.
Honoray Members: Individuals or entities, public or private who, because of their scientific or professional qualifications in the field of botany have contributed to the advancement and empowerment of, creation or consolidation of Botanical Gardens.
